About Duluth

Most of Duluth, Georgia is located in Gwinnett County, on the northwest side.  There are some properties in adjacent Forsyth County, Georgia which also have a Duluth address.  In addition, portions of the new city of Johns Creek (est. 2006) also use one of the Duluth Zip Codes.  For ease of this site, we’ll be talking about the Gwinnett County portions.

Duluth has a phenomenal shopping area in Gwinnett Place Mall and entertainment at the Gwinnett Civic Center.  Recently in Forbes Magazine, Duluth was rated as the 26th best place to move.

Duluth was originally inhabited by the Cherokee Indian tribe.  In fact, Old Peachtree Road is an old Indian and American Settlers trail.  The name “Duluth” is actually an Americanization of a French explorer whose surname was “du Lhut”.  One of the main commercial benefits for Duluth has been the railroad which can be connected to the more well-known Duluth, Minnesota.
